Perhaps the most pertinent question in world politics and inter state relations right now as the most powerful country in the world heads into its Presidential Elections in November 2020 .
The election between the Democratic nominee Joe "Sleepy" Biden and the current POTUS Donald "Duck" Trump of the Republican Party will surely come with its own share of worldwide media coverage as always but what adds to the drama unprecedented racial equality movement(Black Lives Matter) and the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the office of the President of the United states of America comes another tag-"The World's most powerful man" which asserts his worldwide dominance! So how did a country which was not even on the map of the world five centuries ago come to dominate the world ? How come a country which was a colony to the British Empire become so rich so as to give monetary aid and assistance to their once masters? To understand this meteoric rise one must look at the very ideals on which the country was formed and the people who have led this land of humble origins to the 'Shining city on top of the Hill' . The government of USA has played an immense part in the process . After all , it is the government who leads a people and the Presidents , who are the heads of the government hierarchy, are in a way responsible for it. They gave effect to America's politics in particular and World politics in general. This all can be said for the future President also.
After the end of the WW2, Europe lied in ruins and was under the burden of the destroyed industry and workforce who had become the casualties of war but USA on the other hand, being far away from the theatres of war was relatively safe and its industries blossomed from the constant demand of materials and ammunitions required by the Allies during the War and the massive rebuilding program that followed after. Thus , the war which closed the curtain on classical powers, opened the chapter of American dominance which continues till date.
To say all this in a few words, the stance of the President of America on world issues like the South China sea standoff, Israeli expansion ,Terrorism, etc. effects the stance of perhaps all the other nations for good or for bad. If he chooses to ignore a problem then that problem fails to gain much worldwide attention, for example take the expansion of Israel. His influence is immeasurable.
If one person holds so much power, can he go unnoticed? No, he cannot. That is what makes it a much discussed topic in the media around the world.
